I'm a first generation college student from California's Central Coast. As a student at Allan Hancock College, I signed up for an intro to athletic training class to keep my full time status after not being able to get off the waitlist for a required biology class. The athletic training class led me to pursue a BS in athletic training at California State University Fullerton. Following graduation I returned to Allan Hancock College as a part-time program assistant responsible for COVID-19 testing and practice/event coverage.
As a PhD candidate at the University of Kentucky, I enjoy integrating my background in athletic training with my research and teaching interests. My research interests involve investigating potential relationships between hip osteoarthritis and lower extremity joint power to improve clinical outcomes. As an instructor I believe in empowering and challenging students to approach complex problems and become life-long learners. A philosophy which is achieved through the creation of a supportive environment that integrates high impact and applied learning.
Outside of teaching and research, I enjoy drinking strawberry flavored coffee drinks, reading, and attempting to take photos on my Olympus Pen EE3.
